By now you should have planted most of your new additions to the garden. But if you haven’t, don’t fret. You can safely plant just about anything through the summer. Stretch the season. A healthy plant properly installed and watered will still do fine. Lots of plants are blooming now. Hydrangeas are looking great. We have Annabelle, Endless Summer, and lots of other mophead varieties Most of these types like a semi-shady spot. Knock Out roses have been blooming for a while and will go all summer. Everybody should have some Knock Outs, but don’t overlook the others. Flower Carpet roses grow low and bloom all summer. They are great for covering large areas. If you want blooms to cut, plant a few hybrid tea roses. Yes, they take a little more work, but they are worth it. Don’t let up on your basic maintenance chores like watering, fertilizing, weeding and mulching. Keep your plants healthy and bugs and disease will move over to your neighbors.
